Strange as it may seem, some people actually like English grammar. Joen Kinnan is one of these. Her early education found her happily diagramming sentences and digesting parts of speech like junk food. So it was only natural that, after graduation from Denison University with a degree in English, she taught that subject in Ohio and later in Michigan. Along the way, she did postgraduate work at Ohio State University, Kent State University, and Michigan State University at Oakland.

Still later, leaping several states (and a few years) in a single bound, she arrived in Chicago, where she turned her talents toward writing and editing, soon becoming the director of the biographical department at Marquis Who’s Who. But in the wider world, there were press releases to write, and magazine articles, and newsletters, and PR, and so much more. Sadly, Marquis had only biographies. So after a time, she left Marquis and became a senior associate at a management and educational consulting firm, where — among other things — she wrote and delivered workshops in areas such as team building, time management, and other business venues. Feeling properly prepared after several years, she left the consulting firm and launched Cygnet Communications, the communications firm she heads today. For a time, she also taught editing and proofreading at Oakland Community College as well as business writing at Concordia University. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the Midwest. MORE
